Good list, and good suggestions by JMT. But how is it that Boston was overlooked? It's the mother of college towns.
Some others that I love:
Missoula, MT (U of MT)
Santa Barbara, CA (UC SB)
Winter Park, FL (Rollins College)
Northampton, MA (Smith College)
Hanover, NH (Dartmouth College)
Columbus, OH (Ohio State Univ)
Princeton, NJ (Princeton)
Austin, TX (Univ of Texas)
Forbes and their stupid lists. BTW, you're heading is best college towns or cities. The link you provided is for top college sports towns. With that said, with the exception of Madison, I wouldn't rank any of those cities as the best college town or city. As far as top college sports towns are concerned, has anyone heard of Gainesville, FL?
Don't forget about Columbus OH...50,000+ students ar OSU alone.
What does 50,000+ students have to do with the rankings? The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis also has over 50,000 students. Heck, there are well over 100,000 students attending colleges and universities throughout the Minneapolis area, which make MPLS. - STPL. a top 10 college city.
