If you were forced to relocate in the Southern Appalachians, say nearby the Smockies and the choice was between the East front or the West one wich would you choose and why?
talk about everything, jobs, climate, cost of living, crime, taxes etc

Well I suspect anyone who had to be "forced" to live in the region wouldn't be happy unless they lived in Asheville.

Plenty of us live in the region quite voluntarily. If you knew anything about the region you'd know that. You'd also know that TN doesn't have much in the way of foothills but we have a great "Great Valley" with some excellent cities.

Mine was just a way of saying, let's just ask then "do you like more North Carolina foothills or Tennessee ones?"

Yeah, you wouldnt have to twist my arm to live there. I would choose NC and Asheville as the city. It has a great summer climate due to elevation in addition to many wonderful cultural amenities.

Why on Earth someone would want to live in Gatlinburg is beyond me. The other areas of East Tennessee/Western North Carolina, sure....but Gatlinburg? Hell no.

But NashVols, in Gatlinburg you would never get bored. And if you ever did run out of things to do you could take the trolley to Pigeon Forge.

Why bash someone because they enjoy different pastimes.

Plus, you are right there in the mountains. I could see living in a chalet with mountain views and venturing out once a week for groceries. Some of the chalet neighborhoods have acess to park trails.
