Dallas has gotten better, but for its size the urban core is still pretty mediocre. Denver punches above its weight, and Dallas punches below. Neither will come close to an NYC or Chicago.

I disagree - Dallas' urban core is much bigger and has more sustained contiguous urbanity with downtown-adjacent neighborhoods like Uptown, Oak Lawn, Deep Ellum, etc.

Dallas feels bigger, especially DFW as a whole compared to Greater Denver. Neither feels classically urban; I don't see much separation between these two on that front. Denver has more dense SFH areas, but Dallas seems to have more multifamily development.

Overall while I don't see a huge gap, the answer to me is clearly Dallas.

Denver feels like a smaller Dallas in a lot of ways. The urban footprint is smaller than Dallas, but it definitely packs a good punch. I like Denver and it's impressive what all a city/metro of that size has to offer with being the "Capital" of that region of the country. There's also a big connection with DFW folks and Denver/Colorado. It's really the main area I hear people talk about vacationing to or having a second home in.

Denver is the "big city" in a huge geographic region. For that reason it has pretty much everything most would want in a city. But as far as size goes, Dallas does feel bigger.

This feels like a strange comparison because Dallas is more than twice the size of Denver. It feels like a much larger city. It’s the equivalent to comparing Denver to Louisville, KY or Memphis, TN.

There’s definitely a pretty good connection between the two that I don’t think gets talked about a lot. When people get tired of Colorado it seems like Dallas is the go to spot.
