Agreed...he was a terrible human being for doing what he did...I wish he had died before he ripped Cleveland's heart out like that...I will for all time hate that man.

Cleveland, who do you hate more? Art Modell or LeBron James?

There is really no debate about this question. It's Art Modell by 1000 miles.

Art Modell was offered a stadium for the Cleveland Browns and passed: Mark Naymik | cleveland.com

Hardly new news, but this article essentially debunks the main reason why Modell said he moved the team. Overall, he was a pompous, ego-driven dimwit. In the end, he was played like a Stradivarius by Al Lerner.

also, i'm surprised Cleveland did not put up any public-funds, taxpayer dollars to help build a new stadium in Cleveland so Art Modell would keep the original Browns there, after all, I thought California, especially L.A., is the only region in America that flat-out refuses to use public-funds, taxpayer dollars to help build new stadiums, arenas

Well, if you read the article I posted you would see that the city did offer. Also, the voters approved a $100+ million fund to refurb the old stadium as well. Art was just an old prick who always wanted to be first. He took it as a personal slight when he lost the Indians revenue at the old stadium. What he basically felt was that the city should build him a first class facility and hand him the keys. He also felt that the Indians organization should keep providing him revenue even though baseball marketing had shifted to smaller, cozier baseball only facilities instead of large, mixed use stadiums.

LeBron is a distant memory. Contrary to popular media indications and apparent belief, the average Cleveland sports fan has well moved on from LeBron. Modell is and always will be on top of the list. LeBron went to play elsewhere. Modell took our team away. There's no comparison.

Exactly...Lebron was never going to win a title in Cleveland because not other NBA superstars would join him here and that's the only way he was ever going to win one...I just had a problem with the way he handled himself that last season as well as how the whole "Decision" went down...but Art Model and his family will forever burn in hell for what he did to the city.

LeBron is like your first boyfriend who dumped you. It's sadness and passionate hatred at first, but as time goes on you can't really hold it against him.

Art Modell is the husband who took the kids to go pick up McDonalds and never returned. You don't forgive that. The new wife might, but you won't.

He won't be mourned much in Cleveland, regardless of what he may have done before.
