I am impressed with the quality and quantity of renovations in downtown Rocky Mount. I love the extra wide brick sidewalks and new lamp posts. The architecture is gorgeous on the old buildings being fixed. I like that the artisans center is within walking distance. Once downtown is completed it will tie together the large library, the imperial science museum, the veteran memorial and the train station. With some little shops and eateries its going to be great to walk around and sitesee.

Economist/Sociologist Thorstein Veblen commented on this phenomenon at length almost a century ago, and many of Veblen's "predictions" (both good and bad) have come true in modern America.
Those self-appointed social critics who have bemoaned Rocky Mount's fall from its status as an All-American City by focusing on all the things that are bad in Rocky Mount should now learn to devote more of their life energy instead to helping and encouraging the renovations now taking place, and they will soon discover that at this point in history Rocky Mount is indeed a "City on the Rise".

Ha, then good luck. Rocky Mount is just like Kinston. It is a city of yesteryear. But at least RM has 95 and 64.
