It sounds odd to say... but I'm actually going to miss Arty when I leave! (The sound of artillery fire).

Some days it feels so close though that it literally rattles the house!

Sneads Ferry is nice- and would be a much more pleasant option than Jacksonville, but I think Wilmington will suit you more in the long run based on your requirements

Thank you!

If it's a choice between Wilmington and Jacksonville, definitely choose Wilmington. Though I previously said Jacksonville is not a place to be avoided, Wilmington definitely tops it, if you can afford it. Though I'd recommend housing in Hampstead or the general area of Pender county along US 17 next Wilmington.

edit: I just read your other thread. If Jacksonville pays more, depending on your husband's commute tolerance, yo may want to live in Hampstead and he could commute to Camp Lejeune. Living South of Jacksonville means he'd be able to come through the Sneads Ferry gate and avoid the worst of the base traffic

I suggest somewhere in the Carolina Forest area, nice community, new Walmart right down the road.

I know you are a newbie, and that is a good suggestion for Jacksonville. However, the question is over 3 years old, and the person has probably reached a decision.
