Really surprised how aggressive Publix is turning out to be in Eastern NC.

It appears to me, even more so than in Piedmont.

Carolina Knight: Any insight?

FYI, I have gone back to HT for regular shopping, Publix is fine, but I feel I "know" HT better.

With so many Floridians in NC mountains, seems they already have a foot in the door, there.

Publix is gradually announcing, constructing, and opening stores along coastal North Carolina. It has experience with stores in coastal trade areas in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. It should increase the number of stores as announced stores open and its distribution unit opens a distribution center in the Charlotte Division.

The Kill Devils Hills location would be Publix's first store in the Outer Banks. I wonder if Publix could open another store in the Outer Banks in time. Publix will be a step closer to entering the Hampton Roads, Virginia, region.

The Carmike 12 took their sign off of the front. Renovations? New owners? Anyone know? I know there were rumors about a year ago that it was going to turn into a dinner and a movie theater.. but wanted to see if anyone heard anything lately?

I find Publix's "Publix Super Markets Locations in North Carolina" page to be more accurate. The speculated Kill Devils Hill store will not be listed until Publix makes it official.

Is a movie theater joining a possible Publix?

I agree, there is at least one store they say is opening soon that has been open for well over a year now.
