I just saw an ad for HGTV latest Smart Home contest. This one is located near the North Cape Fear River in Wilmington. It is tempting enough I plan to enter the contest a few times. The color scheme is black and white with cedar touches outside. Gold-color faucets. A lap pool and outdoor kitchen. Also a Mercedes SUV, and cash to pay the taxes.
Does anyone know what development it is in? It sounds like River Bluffs.

I was with a group of women on Thursday and this was discussed. Everyone there was planning on entering the contest. Most thought the house was in River Bluffs, some said River Lights. What other communities are in River Lights besides Del Webb? I’ll enter too…I’ve done this before! Lol.
I think the house would be a great win, but most people have found they cannot afford to keep the house.
BTW, River Landing has houses for all ages, not just the 55+ Del Webb.
There are some thoughtful features you might want to incorporate in an existing home. There is a dog cave built under the stairs. There is a conditioned closet off the garage where a grocery deliverer can leave food in a refrigerator. There is a wine frig upstairs in the entertainment area. There are solar tubes in the kitchen for extra light. I especially like the laundry pass-thru between the master closet and the laundry room.

How is the water in the area. I know there has been issues with cancer causing fluorine pumped into the Cape Fear river from chemical companies. Cancer rates are high also.

Its not flourine, its a perfluorinated compound called GenX. You'd have to do some research on your own to get the full story. Brunswick County has a new water plant under construction that will remove it from the drinking water.
