Hi all,

Getting really excited about my move to Colorado Springs (just a few weeks now!) I've been shopping at BJ's Warehouse for eons, so I never really had occasion to try Costco or Sam's Club, so I'm wondering where the locals typically like to shop. Is one notably better than the other, or is it really just a matter of personal preference? They have furniture too so I may check them out for stuff to furnish the apartment with as well.

Costco for us. Love the place. Two locations here.

I go to both places, one warehouse will have something the other doesn't have.

They're building a new Sam's Club by Pikes Peak Community College's main campus. I'll be interested to see how it is. Until then, I personally like Costco better - I like the politics of the owners better and I like the selection better. But I don't have memberships currently at either of them.

Before I joined Costco, I went in and checked out Costco and Sams to see which one had things I would buy more of. Costco won.

EXACTLY!

Now...I NEED this one thing...Costco doesn't have it, Sam's does.
Sam's had this one thing I bought for years....now that company disappeared, not Sam's fault.

Go to each on a guest pass and decide for yourself...this one particular cheese
may be $1.30 cheaper at Costco....really compare what it is you will be buying.
Can't go wrong with either one, they both have good gas prices.
I did end up dropping Sam's this year ...but no one has more delicious roasted chicken for $5...
if you don't care that it isn't organic.
And no one has bundt cakes more delicious to bring to parties...their Triple chocolate, wow...
people die for...I never bring it in their container, of course!

Sam's membership is way cheaper...$15 is way cheaper to me, with their $10 gift card included.
Location is a biggy...both are very easy for me.

My proximity from what will likely be western Colorado Springs seems to put me equidistant to nearly everything, so I'll probably try a little bit of both myself. I actually do prefer organic, but I'm not religious about it.

Well the choice is easy for me. I simply don't do business with wal mart. Period.

But even if I did, I'd still choose Costco. I use to go to Sams with my parents a lot and got pretty use to warehouse type shopping. Then my wife took me to Costco years later and I never looked back. I've watched a show they aired on CNBC or something similar and I learned how good of a company it is to work for and I became more impressed. I'd rather spend my money where they treat people good.

They have quite a bit of organic stuff there. It's easy to spot too, all the price signs are green. And their Kirkland Signature brand is always top notch quality.

Mmmmmm, organic...

How does the organic selection and prices compare to other places?

I honestly can't say I know. I know it's reasonable though.
