Hi everybody. We are currently living in Nevada, Due to having 2 young children we are seeking a better/safer city to raise our children.

How is the quality of healthcare/specialist/Doctors/ hospitals & so on in Colorado Springs compared to larger cities or wherever you moved from?

Originally we lived in New York and had great healthcare. Plenty of doctors to choose from and some of the best hospitals. When we moved to Las Vegas- it was like night & day!

The healthcare system in Las Vegas is a joke!!

Any info on Colorado Springs Healthcare would be great!!

Thank you

We had excellent outcomes with CSHP doctors and facilities. There are 4 major hospitals and one is partnered with a Children's hospital service (Memorial Hospital). IMO healthcare in COLO SPGS is very good. Lots of specialists and anything not found in COLO SPGS will be found in Denver, usually a 90 minute drive door to door.

I would agree that the medical services offered here are very good. I typically get quick service and we have many doctors to choose from. Between here and Denver, you can find some top notch doctors and hospitals.

I do think we have a bit of a shortage of certain types of doctors and sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to find exactly what you want so you have to shop a bit. I haven't had a lot of health issues so far, fortunately, but other than what I mentioned I haven't noticed any particular issues.

The excellent medical we get here is one reason we are staying for now. When we went on Medicare we didn't have to change doctors.

Retirees need to check the availability of doctors who will accept Medicare clients. In many areas, there is a huge shortage. For example, in another thread, people who live in Grand Junction are having problems finding doctors.

I think all 4 hospitals here are excellent.

And, I have a wonderful doctor's practice I use for general medicine. I'm planning on moving to Phoenix area, and I know I won't have it as good there in that regard.
