Wink Parking - here and there

I was briefly in Aspen a couple summers ago, with little problem in parking.

Telluride has adopted the growing trend of taxing their visitors further by installing high-falluting parking meters throughout town. If memory serves, aside from coins they even accepted credit cards - since maybe you'd need that option. Hmm.

No idea if Aspen has got around to the same nonsense. During the height of summer you may find parking something of a challenge along major roads in the CBD. What I did quite easily was park a few blocks off to the side in a more residential area. Central Aspen is plenty easy to walk about. I do not recall if there was a time limit where I parked, possibly, but not an issue for a visit of several hours. In Aspen, parking will likely be the least of your issues expense-wise.

As a side note, a tourist town like Estes Park does everything they can to encourage visitation. Thus with a relative abundance of close-in, city-maintained, free parking lots. There is a time limit of 3 hours in the summer to encourage a certain turn-over, but one could as easily just move a short distance away after that time. Although, at certain busy times, you may find yourself exploring the outer reaches of town to find an empty spot.

Telluride, if you don't mind paying then probably not much of an issue. If one does, then it may be a search to find a street not yet infested with meters. Aspen may prove better.

In Silverton, park where you like. Well, almost. One establishment with a sign before it reading: 'Don't even think about parking here.' I think they meant it.

In most areas, it's OK and you can always park in the main parking garage off of the main street.

You usually have to go a few blocks off the main street area, but you'll always be able to find parking.
