Hello people,
I’ve seen several posts about Christmas in Colorado, all helpful, but not 100% what I’m looking for. We're coming from sunny San Diego, but some snow for Christmas would be an awesome experience. My husband and I grew up in Italy and always been to alps or Austria, Germany, I mean amazing mountains. This year we wanna see if Colorado can compare!!!! I’m sure it will. My daughter is 7 and never seen snow, Don’t have the $$$$ for Aspen, any good advice you can give me?? We don't ski, we are just good with walking in snowy little villages and enjoy some winter temperatures. I was thinking staying in Denver and then driving to Estes park one day and maybe catching the train another time and go toward south west (I believe that’s the area of Aspen and other great locations). Thanks guys, just need some suggestions.

Most anywhere in/near the mountains would give you snow. Won't be much in Denver and driving into the mountains during a snowfall will be a bit of a nail biter if you're not already used to doing that or have a rental car that's a poor snow choice.

If you can't afford Aspen you probably can't afford Telluride either. But I'd urge you to check out the offerings at Vail and Durango and Glenwood Springs (Hotel Colorado). IIRC, Vail has the look of an Alpine village.

Others will be along shortly to add better advice.

Winter Park, CO or Granby, CO. You will be on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Excellent idea. I've been to a resort up at Grand Lake that has some cabins and does snowmobile touring near the headwaters of the Colorado River.

Hotel Colorado, Glenwood Springs. You can at least drive to Aspen for the day.

The only problem with that area is all the beetle kill. The forests look like a nuclear bomb went off.

The hot springs there are open year round; a luxury to sit in the hot springs as snow is falling....
