If it works out that we move to Colorado...my Mom has a couple of
questions...we have heard that Social Security is taxed there...we
are in Texas and it is not...can someone tell me how much it is taxed?
Also, (not sure if this is a strange question) but I didn't have an answer
for her...so I am asking...she is wanting to bring some of her plants...
is that okay?...I told her we could just buy some when we got there...
but a couple of them are ones she has had for a long time...from a
friend and sister that has passed...so she isn't wanting to leave
them behind...and that is understandable...I would appreciate any
input...

You are only taxed based on the same rules as federal income...aka "federal taxable income" which is line 43 on a regular 1040.

As for plants, if you are talking house plants, I don't see why your mom couldn't bring them here. We may be dry here but we have houseplants too.

Hello Terri722,
I brought out three of my mother's rose bushes and they are still doing beautifully. I had also brought out some houseplants and are also doing great, they just need extra watering.

When I moved to CO from MN in '92 we had to hide my favorite plant (a 6' hibiscus tree) in a wardrobe box because it was explained to me that CO had a law against bringing in plants from other states (due to bugs, or whatever). I was warned that if the truck was searched at the weigh station, I would probably lose it. I have no idea if this is still the case. No doubt "when there's the will, there's a way"

Thanks MN2CO...that's sort of what my Mom was thinking...I can't remember from
where to where...but she was traveling from one state to another some time back
and they did the same to her...something about the dirt...so I'm sure it's what
you are talking about...bringing in bugs or parasites from another state...

Plants are fine....unless you are doing the international thing, which you aren't.

Forumrider420, why aren't I surprised about your post? Oh ya....420...
