Hi,
We are relocating to the Columbia area in the near future and looking for a neighborhood with new construction. I will be working at the airfield in West Columbia and want to keep my commute to 45 min or less. Anyone have suggestions for subdivisions with quality builders in the 200-300 price range? Thanks.

You have more choices that you thought possible. Working at the airport means you have virtually no traffic to deal with at any time during the day. And houses in the 2-$300,000 range are plentiful. Find what is important to you, schools, shopping, leisure activities, etc and then search for neighborhoods. There is plenty to pick from.

If you want the help of an agent I know a guy who is as good as they come. When we were looking for our home we talked with him for about 30 minutes discussing what we were looking for and he came up with several prospects right away. One of them was perfect and we closed in less than a month. Let me know if you want the contact info and I'll PM it to you.

Check out Fortress builders. They have a few plans in that price range and I know they are currently constructing houses off of the 12th street extension and out in Lexington, you would be able to have one built with options that could fit your personal tastes. Both of those locations are within that commute range.

If you're willing to have a 45 minute commute, you have ALL the options.

What factors are most important for you? Proximity to work, proximity to shopping, recreation, schools?
