I'M planning of buying a house in the southeastern Columbia SC zip code 29209. Minutes to downtown and close to Fort Jackson. I'M a single mom with a seven years old daughter. Will someone please tell me how safe the zip code area 29209 or the southeastern Columbia is? I will appreciate to get a feedback. Thank you all.
I lived and grew up behind the VA hospital off Garners Ferry. Went to meadowfield, hand, and dreher. Great neighborhoods and very safe, have nothing bad to really say about the area. It is one of the best areas in Columbia, in regard to distance from the city center and value. I still currently own my home which has been rented out for the last year, the tenant has never experienced any issues with crime.
It is the southeastern neighborhood. I have never been to Columbia. It is located near Ft Jackson and easy access to Mcintyre National Guard and AFB. I don't know how safe that area is?

Southeastern Columbia is a huge area that encompasses many neighborhoods.
Most areas in Columbia are safe. There are pockets of activity in Southeast Columbia, but for the most part, it is a safe area. Woodhill Estates is the safest of all the neighborhoods you mentioned.
"Safe" is a relative term since crime can take place against property, your person or both. Obviously no area is completely safe since crime can happen any where.
With that as a back drop.. those areas named would probably be in the "more safe" column when compared to most areas of the Columbia Metro. And if crime were to occur it is likely to be more property crime related than violence against a person in the form of mugging/robbery.
