The vote for bonds is this week. With the mayor and Delta pushing hard to block this, I am very skeptical you will see Atlanta's 2nd airport in rural Paulding County, at least no time soon.

Of course there's nothing "wrong" with it, but I just don't see the point if you know it's not going to happen.

Yes, this is a long shot for Columbus to become Atlanta's 2nd airport. However, there is $300,000 being spent on studies looking at high-speed rail and an airport expansion. Will it happen, who knows? If it does, how nice would it be to prove the naysayers wrong. 2014 is shaping up to be a massive year for the Columbus metropolitan area. Glad these guys will be tuning in to watch Columbus grow. Should be interesting to watch as things unfold!
I have absolutely nothing against Columbus and I definitely don't hijack threads in this forum. However, getting excited about pipe dreams just doesn't make much sense to me but don't let me steal you guys' joy.

Well Delta doesn't want a second airport anywhere and has made that known, but this is much more realistic than a second airport coming to a city that's not even part of the metro area.

You have to understand that its not that people don't want good things to happen in Columbus, because if they happen, they just happen, it really wouldn't affect most of us. Since Columbus was never even considered as a possible area for the airport, why would a statement like that even be made? What was the point? What everyone was trying to say was that that was very unrealistic and a pipe dream. If 2014 is a great year for Columbus, I couldn't be happier,I am all for growth in cities. Its good that you are optimistic...but sometimes you take it too far.

So let me get this straight!

Columbus1984 post a study that the new stations reported but yet he shouldn't have because it was never going to happen?

@Mutiny77....Everyone doesn't think like you...While you may not see a point I must say I seen one...Obviously the (sources) new stations seen a point too or they wouldn't have entertained it. IMO

Or someone wouldn't be wasting $300k if it wasn't a possibility. Like I said, time will tell. Even if it doesn't happen but Columbus ends up with more airlines, it's still a huge win for Columbus.

Just because a new station reports something doesn't mean there's anything substantial to it. Please tell me you're not this gullible in real life and are capable of using critical thinking skills independently?
