WOW...you got me huh? You can tell that you have never lived anywhere else as you defend this crap state like its the best thing ever...Las Vegas has a high unemployment rate due to the construction lay-offs and casino also..There is plenty of work there, more than here. The "hot" months that you refer to, usually only 2, are not that bad as you can look at the stats and see!! Also, the high A/C bills you speak of are the exact same as having to pay a gas bill all winter in Ohio..Maybe you should live somewhere first before speaking of it so badly! The housing market is still getting back to levels from before the boom, which are where they should be...Here they are as a matter of fact:
January 58° / 34° February 63° /39° March 69° /44° April 78° /51° May 88° /60° June 100° /69° July 106° /74° August 103° /74° September95° /66° October 82° /54° FNovember 67° /43° December 58° F /34° F

I have actually lived other places, including outside of the US. I will defend Ohio because it's my birthplace and home now and I see nothing but a lot of unfounded bashing that uses few facts and a lot of hyperbole. I never said Ohio was the best ever. "Best Ever" is more hyperbole and based solely on one's own opinion.

And you seem to be making a lot of excuses for the job market and economy in Vegas, which is worse off than Ohio's, yet you don't extend that same courtest to Ohio. Strange.

You seriously think average highs of 88, 100, 106, 103, and 95 for May through September respectively is "not that bad?" Really? Looks like more than 2 months to me, but sure, 5 months is just like 2... Even average highs of 78 for April and 82 for October are very high when you take into consideration what it takes to actually reach those averages.

If you like Vegas better, so be it. That's okay. That's all you had to say. Instead, you did what a lot of people do and bring up all sorts of bs to justify your opinion on Ohio, no matter how factually incorrect it is. That's where the problem is.

I too was born here and currently live here for reasons related to a parents health. You are the one who brought up half the year and ridiculous temps...there are 2 months of that, as the other months, with very low humidity feel awesome and not hot at all..Also, no excuses for unemployment rate in Nev, again you brought up how high it was and I was just correcting your inaccuracy...Ohio just had 3 of the top 12 most miserable cities to live and Nev had.....0!! Factually correct...THere was a question asked about Ohio and the weather, which I answered as many would because there are a lot of people who go through a depression around this time every year, just look around...I also never said that you said it was the best ever, you act like it is..THere are tons of bugs during the HOT and HUMID summer months and during the rainy months of April-May and October...It is far more miserable to be in the high 80s to low 90s with humidity than be in 100 degree temps as you can not breath very good

We really don't have bug problems in Ohio. I would say that is one area where we are better than out west. Nothing that a little bug spray can't take care of. I've heard horror stories from people moving out west and finding enormous bugs in their houses. For the most part the humidity is not so bad here. If you like to go out at night during the summer it holds the heat so it is very pleasant in the evenings.

Besides the weather, Ohio really has much more going for it than Vegas or Phoenix.

I still don't get your 2-month argument. You posted the numbers yourself, and there are at least 3 months with 100+ averages, with 2 additional months that also have very high average temps.
Sorry, but 100 degrees with low humidity is still hot, no matter how you slice it. When I lived in Mexico, I travelled around the country, including areas of the desert that reached easily 100+ with low humidity. I'd always heard from people that the low humidity made it feel better... not true at all. It was still extremely uncomfortable. It was beyond any heat that I'd felt here in Ohio. Perhaps if we went back to the 1930s when Ohio had it's hottest summers on record, we could find something similar, but that kind of heat is just very rare. Columbus hasn't reached 100 degrees since 1999, when it reached 100 exactly, once. Before that, 1988. In fact, Columbus has reached 100 or more in just 3 summers in the last 50 years. There just is no comparison of summers here to summers in the desert Southwest. It's like someone else comparing Ohio's winter to Alaskas.

And really, you're bringing up a Forbes list? Why not just pull something out of your butt, that would be as reputable. The criteria they use is downright asinine.

As for bugs... funny. I go camping just about every month. In tents. I can't remember a single time I've had issues with bugs. The South has flying roaches man. The occasional mosquito here just doesn't compare.

Awful. I hate it. haha but it's probably similar to any other northern state. Snowfall isn't anything like up north in Cleveland or NY though.

Funny how you will defend this state and no one is right about anything they say and you are right..There was also an article in Newsweek in Sept(?) with the top 25 most miserable cities and Ohio had 4..You also arue with people about using thier opinions to make a point, but you are doing the same thing with yours about the temps in the west being uncomfortable..That is your opinion, and not a greatly agreed with one at that...Go to any park in June-Aug and it is full of volleyball and basketball players...In Ohio and the midwest, the humidity makes you sweat while breathing..and finally bugs..We also camp near Upper Sandusky and the end of summer brings tons of bees, ants, mosquitos, flies and biting flies..and do not tell people near the lakes and the Islands about "no bugs"...They spray multiple times a month and it does not work...We live near fields and woods and all through June, July and Aug our house exterior is covered with all kinds of bugs..So you must be in the only area of Ohio with no bugs..

Weather is not one of Ohio's strong points IMO. (or most of the Midwest for that matter) We have cold, gray, and often dreary feeling winters and muggy summers. (though not as bad as most of the southern US) Fall and spring feel the best to me, even though seasonal allergies are at their worst during these seasons for me.

This debate is getting increasingly silly. First, being "miserable" is subjective and those lists are composed of arbitrarily chosen criteria. Of course you would agree with them, they support your preconceived notion of misery.

And sorry, but it's not just an opinion that average highs over 100 degrees is hot. It's just a reality. And yes, when playing basketball or volleyball in the SUMMER, you sweat. And that would happen anywhere in the country during summer. You'd even sweat in Alaska doing that. So a pretty silly point to make. As far as bugs go, I've never had a problem with them at any time in my life living in Ohio. Perhaps right off of Lake Erie they have the occasional issue, but we're talking about the state as a whole, where we do not suffer from Biblically-sized plagues of bugs. In fact, you may be the first person I've ever heard make this argument.

In any case, we'll just continue to go around and around on this. I tend to think that people who complain about weather (and bugs) have far bigger issues going on that make them hate a place. I have said that before and my opinion hasn't changed. All places have issues to deal with, including with the weather. Ohio is nowhere near the worst place to live. Not in the US. Not even in the Midwest. If you don't like it, move, and take all the rest of the dramatic people with you.

I do not know where you get some of the words you stick in there...Please read aloud and figure out where I said that you sweat playing basketball in the summer..of course you do, anywhere but you would not know that more than likely..I said when the humidity is up you sweat just walkinga round breathing..I said that parks are full all the hot months so many people are not as bothered as you seem to think...Biblically??? big word that was never said by me..boy, you must not have a life..If no one else but me suffers from bugs, why do all cities spray so much? In your world, what color is the sky? No other concerns for me, I just hate this state and I am moving in June----speaking of dramatic, please respond back soon
