Weather sunday/monday (Columbus: how much, live, bus)

I cant tell on weather.com how much snow Columbus is getting. We have to fly n Monday around 2pm. Any idea how much snow will be on the ground? Will driving be difficult from CMH? Any comments appreciated ! Thanks

Not that bad so far. Maybe 2-4 in central Ohio. Much more going north.

Virtually none. Been raining all day and temps near 40. But it will be 20 tomorrow.

No snow on the ground anymore after all that rain yesterday.

Forecasters blew it this time like usual...Fri they were saying 6-10 inches...and we wound up getting no snow and all rain. They did a good job salting the roads so ice is not a problem after the temp drop last night.

At no time in the actual forecast was the call for 6-10 around Columbus. I don't know about tv mets, but the NWS didn't. Even the watch, which is just a watch, not a warning, didn't call for that much, and as the storm approached, the watch just became an advisory with a mix at best, and that's about what Columbus received.

The NWS app on my phone breaks the forecast up into day and night, at some point I added the totals up for Sunday, Sunday night and Monday, this came to 5-8 inches by Monday morning in Columbus. Pretty sure this was on Friday because by Sat AM it was down to 3-5". So yes at one time the NWS was predicting 6+. And at least one of the local stations forecast 6-12" total, this was probably Thursday night or Friday morning.

Seems like all weather outlets now predict the worst possible scenario, particulaly several days out. But every forecast I saw made mention of the fact that this is 48-36-24 hours away, the storm track may vary, its possible to see more rain than snow, etc.

I just don't understand the need to overhype these storms...eventually it's like the boy who cried wolf.

The NWS did the same thing on that east coast storm...said NYC would get 2 feet plus...forcing the leadership to issue travel bans, shut the subway and bus system down costing taxpayers millions...and they got 5"...could have remained open w/ no real issues at all.

I've been in Columbus for a couple yrs, and also lived here from 1997 to 2005. We've in all that time never had a big snow. 10" is the biggest one I've seen and that was Feb 2003. Even last winter...as bad as it was, I think 7 or 8" was the biggest single snow event. We just had a lot of them between 3" and 6".

The people doing the actual weather forecasting are not over-hyping or forcing anybody to do anything.
