Columbus Drivers...ugh (live, moving, cars)

I moved here a year ago and love it but I want to know why Columbus drivers don't go the speed limit? When a sign says 45 that means 35-40 for most people. Anywhere else in the country and that 45 mph would mean 55-60. Do people in C-bus have all the time in the world or do they just not pay attention to the road signs? Even in a 25 mph zone people are going 15-20. I just don't get it.

The only time people drive the limit and over is on the freeways.

Its an Ohio thing. The cops in Ohio like to give lots of tickets. Even on the highways a large percentage of the drivers drive at the speed limit or under. Man, it drives me nuts. I've been commuting 57 miles each way to work since February. At the beginning I would drive ~70MPH and was pretty laid back. Now I drive like I'm from the third world. Its bad but I can't help it.

My biggest problem is with people that won't get out of the fast lane when there is a line of cars behind them. WTF! Man, I'm getting angry just thinking about it. I need to find a new job!

I found the drivers in Ohio to be fairly considerate and decent on the highways. They were very good about passing and moving back to the right lane, something not as reliable in California.

The one attribute about Ohio drivers that I found to be different than my experiences in other states I have lived is the left turn passivity. In California and other places, the drivers are pretty aggressive about making the turn when they see a gap. In Ohio, I frequently saw gaps which would allow a few cars to turn left, and the cars just sit there.

Other than that, no complaints.

Most drivers I've seen are nutty - They cut you off, speed up, slow down. Even worse on the hwys. Now mind you - I"ve drove in NY often as that's where I'm originally from - people over this way think they own the roads.

Of course this is my opinion and only that.
