Talk to me about safety in Clintonville... (Worthington: apartment complex, houses)

Hello!
I am currently looking for an apartment in the Clintonville area, but am kind of nervous about safety issues. This move will put me the most "in the city" that I have ever been (I know....) and am starting to get worried about car and home break-ins.

I am a single young woman and will be living by myself (well, with my large golden retriever as well). What can you tell me about areas in CV to look into in my situation, and what areas should I stay away from? Is the Como park area good or bad/spotty? And what about Indianola around Broadway?

Any other recommendations to a new transplant from the further out 'burbs?

I live in Clintonville right now, just north of Broadway and High street, west of Indianola. I have found it to be a very safe, friendly area. Going further east past Indianola or south past Broadway, it becomes a bit sketchier -- poorer, less well kept. The closer you get towards campus, the less tidy and safe it feels. Going west of Broadway towards the river there are some very nice old houses. Clintonville Commons, an apartment complex on High street is very basic -- not the prettiest, but inexpensive. Olentangy Village, which is on the river side of High, is pretty nice but a bit more expensive. I think they allow dogs in some of their units. I've parked on the streets in Clintonville since I moved here last year, and the only problem I've had is that someone clipped my side rearview mirror and cracked the glass.

I wouldn't worry about any part of Clintonville honestly.

North campus is really not any worse than Clintonville, however, it is generally more expensive (to purchase housing) the further north you go in Clintonville. Also, don't rule out south clintonville because some of the nicer apartments are down there. The apartments in northern clintonville are actually, some units, more out of date.

On a whole I would say Clintonville is really pretty safe, but as in any are of a city or even suburb, things can happen so you always want to do common sense things (locking doors,locking cars, etc)

You should be worried about that in any urban metropolitan area. I grew up in what could safely be described as an upper middle class neighborhood in Worthington, and my car was broken into on three separate occasions. Given that track record, I'd actually feel safer in Clintonville.
