I am now scanning all of my important documents into my computer. When I scan the documents, papers, pictures into the computer, it records them as JPEG files. However, I only scanned the documents that were one page. Whenever I use my scanner, it appears that I can only scan one at a time. Note: I use a HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one scanner. I searched online for advice. It looks like if I want to scan multiple documents into one file (and one icon). I need to create a PDF file. Is that what i have to do, no?

Now, I looked at some of the software claims to be able to do this. It is expensive. Adobe Acrobat is over 100 bucks! I do have Adobe Reader X downloaded. Is Adobe Reader X, that I downloaded for free, adequate? Or is there a free or cheap software I can download somewhere else?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

Have you look for options in the software for your scanner? I don't have an HP, but the driver/software for my Epson allows me to select file format, and if I choose PDF, either single page or multi page files.

On my mac, I can open a .jpg in preview and export it as a .pdf. I have scanned documents one at a time in the recent past and appended them into one multiple page .pdf. Can't seem to figure out how to get the the append option when I just converted a few .jpg's though. Not sure how I did it, but I'm pretty sure I did it with preview....

(just figured out how to merge. In preview, if you open multiple pictures and have the sidebar open, you simple drag one over the other and it merges them. I'm sure that's not how I did it, but it works.)
You probably are on PC, so sorry if I'm no help.
