Wix is for people that don't want to code.. not the best way to brush up your HTML.

Running a WAMP (MAMP if you're mac) is not difficult and it's free. Just follow the instructions.

Codecademy is a good place to brush up a little on HTML...

^ wamp won't help him all the way if his intention is to publish it to the internet ("put up something") - unless he has a dedicated IP at home. OP should clarify if putting it on the web is his ultimate purpose.

Yeah, after looking at it again, I remembered you couldn't actually edit the code on Wix. In terms of brushing up on HTML, you don't need WAMP or anything like that. Just need notepad or notepad++. I've used 000webhost.com before. It's been awhile and it wasn't a very fancy website (I can't even remember what it was), however it has FTP support, MySQL, and PHP support as well. I don't know why I didn't mention this one first, I guess because the last one I messed with was Wix.com.
