Dell desktop,Windows 10...been noticing pictures missing from my downloads folder. Hackers?...
It's pretty unlikely that your system was hacked just to steal photos, ... unless you're a paparazzi who just got some super hot shots.
1st thing: Check your Recycling Bin to see if they had been accidentally deleted.
2nd: What software are you using to do the automatic sync between your cloud account of photos, and your downloads folder. (There are many). Check it's settings for the download path to see if it was accidentally changed.
Tip: use Windows Explorer or some other file-management utility to do a search through your entire hard drive for all photos, to see if you can identify these and other wayward picture files. Their location may give you a hint as to what software moved them, or downloaded them to that folder.

We've had hackers before screw with us so it is likely.
I did check recycling.
I don't really use iCloud so that's not a factor.
And I did a search in system...nothing found.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is the Unhide program...

I don't "use" the cloud options either...intentionally. But a couple of times that's where I found some of my stuff when I wasn't paying attention to where I was saving something.
Use special software to recover deleted files windows 10. But first, search the files on your computer. Perhaps you moved the photo from the downloads folder and forgot about it.
