Can someone please fill me in on what seems to be an abundance of small ISP's in my area? Are they worth it? Pros/Cons versus the big ones?

TheList.com is EXTREMELY outdated. It was great... in 1997.

Check with your cable company, phone company, neighbors, and the RI forum here. Odds are good that the cable and/or phone companies are the only game in town for high speed, unless you have some wireless providers, too. Point-to-point fixed wireless tends to be comparatively expensive, though, so even if they're available, you probably won't think they're worth it if you have other high speed options available.
