We are thinking of moving out of the city.
I have two pre-school aged children. One reason we would move is for great schools.
There is Greenwich, but beyond that I don't know anything.
Thanks for any help

Depends on your budget, the type of home you're looking for, the type of area you want to live... we need some more detail to help. There are a lot of towns that could fit the bill here...

Within one hour door to door would limit you to Greenwich or Darien for the best schools. The average home price in both of these towns is over a million dollars however. There is Stamford but after elementary school, I'd look into private schooling for a "great" education.

If you are looking for door to door in an hour or less you'll basically be limited to Greenwich. For more selection look in either Westchester county or in NJ.

A one hour commute does limit how far into Connecticut you can go. Greenwich is the closest town and the train trip would be about 45 minutes. Stamford is about the same travel time because it has express trains to Manahattan that Greenwich does not offer. Darien and Noroton Heights (which is also part of the Town of Darien) also are under an hour train ride again because trains from there only stop in Stamford before traveling express to Manhattan. As Kidyankee noted Darien and Greenwich are pretty expensive and Stamford is a small city with some school issues. It is up to you which of these towns are good for you. Jay
