Just a heads-up for anybody in the Shelton vicinity.

This place is crazy expensive for an office visit!

I ran in there for a simple muscle spasm issue, and i was in and out of the exam room in under 5 minutes.

The visit was billed @$520, my insurance(and myself) paid $193. I and my insurance company did verify that the visit was billed "properly".
This place is way too high compared to what other walk-in's in the area are charging. I actually liked the doctor that i saw and i was considering making her my primary physician.

Please tell me of a more reasonable walk-in facility in the area, I'd love to know of one. You can add St. Vincent's Immediate care clinics to the list of crazy expensive, I wonder if they charge the same as the hospital.

Med-Now and Concentra are significantly lower. I realize now that Huntington is "hospital" affiliated(Yale network), hence the high charges like St. Vincent's Immediate.

Milford Walk-In Clinic and Urgent Care Center of Orange charge around $120-130 for just the visit, plus any tests. Had pretty good experiences at both.

Did that huge bill include tests? Or just the visit itself?

No tests. <5minutes, in/out.

WOW.

As stated, those 2 I went to didn't charge any more than $135 for the actual visit and they both took their time with me.

The walk-in near Starbucks, across from the Volkswagen dealership in Stratford has been good in my experience...

I went back and looked at the charges for Med-Now and Concentra. $87 for a "basic" visit @Med-Now a year ago, $113@Concentra for a higher-level visit this spring. I know that doesn't really do much for you though as they're both in Stratford.

Sounds like they billed it as if it were an ER. I would contest the charges. You should have been billed a different code, more like low 100's for the charge, paid in the 90's.
