It's an added 'feature' that I'm an old mommy at 45 - it's not that I really look it, it just changes the things you have in common with people :-)

I'm not in your area but wanted to respond. I was a social worker for about 15 years before I lost my job last summer. I became a full time SAHM to my 15 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son. It was definitely hard because it wasn't by choice. I'm not the kind of person to not have 50 things going on at once. I always worked multiple jobs or worked while in grad school. But I found myself LOVING being a SAHM! I knew I needed some balance so I decided to keep my son in daycare so I could be freed up to pursue my interests. That would be my advice to you. If you can afford it, have some child care so you can pursue your passions. I started my own coaching business and I also did direct sales. I attended a lot of networking and socializing groups for moms too. My friends teased me because my days are more packed as a SAHM now than when I worked 3 jobs, lol. Another bit of advice, to help get over the culture shock make sure you have your own downtime. You will start to experience hovering to make up for lost time while you were working. Have some quality time with the kids but make sure not to be on top of them 24/7. They will need a break as much as you, lol.
