I don't know how all these people coordinate the end of their contracts with the release of these phones. Are they paying retail for the phones? I got my 6+ about 4 months ago-- it had been out almost 6 months at that point. That's when my contract ended and I could upgrade for little money....
Verizon has no more contract….I just got the 6 and my contract wasn't up until February...
wow. I thought that was a thing of the past.
I never understood the premise to be the first one in line for something like that when you can comfortable get it in 5 min a couple of months later.
Couple of months? I ordered my 4s online in mid-October and had it in less than two weeks. It was delayed due to the October storm and fedex delays, I picked it up at the depot myself. People are nuts.
I still use my 4s 4 years later. Hate how big the 6 is and the 5s is almost as outdated as my current one... Although I love the size of the 5s

The new thing is to finance the phone over time. Something like $32 or month for an iPhone bundled with your data plan. No more contract means you can trade in anytime and pass the negative equity into a new phone.

Doesn't exactly sound like a winning financial move...

No - just another way for the phone companies to make more money - if you trade in annually, they make more than if you trade in every 2 years with a contract.
With AT&T at least there is no interest on the finance plan. You just pay off the cost of the phone over a set period of months. Which is a pretty good deal, especially if you keep your phone after its paid off.
I know a couple people who were having issues with their phones (5S, 5, even 4S), had an upgrade waiting, but decided to stick it out an extra few weeks/months to get the 6S. To me that makes sense, but I don't know how many people in that picture share the same story as opposed to already having a 6 and wanting something new.
I've been on team iphone for 6 years and have gone through a 3G, 4, and my current 5S for 2 years. I use them til they die, but if it died tomorrow, I'd go for the 6S.
