After living (and divorcing) in Manhattan forever, I need to relocate and chose CT. What is the best or most popular big city/cities in southern CT/Fairfield for middle aged 50+ year old singles to live = still in the workforce not yet retired.

If you still work in Manhattan I would move to Stamford CT. I was born and raised in Stamford and now in my fifties. I am married and have been living in Trumbull CT for over twenty years. I go down to Stamford a lot and it is really becoming a nice thriving little city. Even if you don't work in Manhattan I would consider it. I think it is the safest city in CT (or one of the safest) and the express train ride into Manhattan is only about 45 minutes. If I were single and could afford it I would move to Stamford.
I agree with CTartist. Stamford is probably the best place to start your new life. It is away from Manhattan but not too far and there are a lot of opportunities for a new social and professional life. Good luck, Jay
Agree with the above. And coming from the City, you will not experience sticker shock at Stamford's rental or purchase prices. Tho in the shadows of NYC, Stamford has its own identity, more urban than suburban.
