My wife and I are considering moving from the nyc area to the connecticut suburbs and commuting into the city for work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the best suburbs to live in are? We would like to keep the commute to 1-1/2 hr or less. We are looking at renting and probably having a baby in the next year.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

A lot will depend on how much you want to spend and what type of community you would like. Keep in mind that the suburbs of Fairfield county are some of the pricest places to live in the country. They are also some of the most beautiful. The closest would be Greenwich which is a wonderful town with a great downtown. It is a wonderful place to raise a family but is very expensive. Next is Stamford which is a small city. There are a lot of great neighborhoods and the homes a bit more reasonable. Keep in mind though that because it is a city Stamford has some (but not a lot) urban issues. Next up the line is Darien and New Canaan which are both beautiful towns. Like Greenwich though they are very pricey. Norwalk is next which is a small city but has many nice areas. Jay

If you want to avoid the major headaches of a traffic commute via I95, you might want to consider the upper Fairfield county or northern New Haven county areas.
