So my wife surprised me with a PS4 for my 40th birthday. I had (jokingly but sort of seriously) always mentioned to her how I'll need to eventually upgrade to a PS4 in order to continue my love affair with Madden Football, lol! I had dropped hints about the PS4 ever since it was first released. Anyways, like I said, she surprised me with a PS4 yesterday, so I excitedly hooked it up and was ready to play some.........Lego Batman! (Hey, it was the bundle she got me!) Fired the thing up, and got to a "Safe mode" screen where it said something about couldn't find the PS4 hard disks and gave an error code. It said something about hitting the power button once to power off. I figured, eh, probably just needed to power it on again. Well, after several tries and arriving at the same error screen, I decided to Google the error.
Seems like several PS4s have arrived bricked. Supposedly, it had to do with a missing screw that held the hard drive in place. Well, I checked, and all screws were accounted for. The hard drives didn't seem like they were loose, so I tried it again. Same error screen!
So, my wife is sending my bricked PS4 back to Amazon, and will attempt to get another one. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue? After doing a bit of research, seems there are several issues the PS4 has encountered. It kind of concerns me a bit.
Phew! Thanks guys! Out of all the game consoles I've ever had (dating back to the old Atari days) I've never had an issue straight out of the box, so when this happened, I was certainly disappointed.
Exactly! My 40th birthday! Didn't have a big milestone party. Just wanted to have a nice quiet even home, alone, with my wife, kid, .....aaaaannd my playstation, lol!
