My youngest and last kid at home ( age 16) would like to watch her TV in her room and at this complex there is no cable outlet in her room .
She is so crazy about her Spongebob TV - Emerson Model Sb314- that it is actually our living room TV ( which is ridiculous but it is what it is ) and our nicer TV is in my room hooked to the cable .
"The Spongebob TV" is a legend in our family and she has had it since she was a baby. It was even stolen one time , pawned and I still managed to get it back .
Anyway , I bought a Mohu leaf antenna so she could move "Spongebob" back into her room . We hooked it up and got as far as the scan. It DID scan the TV but but nothing happens . It's presently ON the window facing Seattle and the sky clearly visible but we have moved that thing everywhere
I think Spongebob is just too old and she needs something a little newer the leaf will adapt too but my husband swears all we need is an analog to digital converter box to plug the leaf into .
Is this the case ?
It is just snow if not hooked to our cable company's converter box for old TV's , with that it works fine.
Yeah, I looked up the manual on this and he's right. There's no digital tuner in this tv set, so to get OTA channels you will need to buy a digital converter to use as the tuner. You plug that into the front audio/video jacks.
This what I've been using the past few years. I use it for recording over the air tv but it's also a converter for old tvs. You do need an external hard drive if you plan on recording with it, It's a cheap option. Right now this Mediasonic Homeworx is $27.99 on Amazon. There are other brands out there as well. The Homeworx isn't perfect but has been helpful recording the shows I like, and for one of my older tvs that needed a converter when I was still using it.
These are all good options and reasonably priced too. Looks like Spongebob will live on lol !
