We're here! We moved into our beautiful new home this weekend. We chose a house in a quaint little neighborhood off Hwy. 70 just a mile or two past "City Lake". The views are gorgeous!

This place is a little slice of heaven! The people here are so friendly. "Southern Hospitality" really rings true here, it seems. Our neighbors have really made us feel welcome. We joined the YMCA, and the people there are great.

The boys will go to Northeast Elem. and are really excited about starting school this year. We homeschooled previously, but I'm confident that the school system will be just fine for our boys.

Coming from storm-ravaged MS, Cookeville is a breath of fresh air. I can't imagine ever moving again. I'm amazed at how much it cools down here in the evenings, and how little humidity we've had here compared to MS. The weather is divine.

Thanks JMT and firepower for all the info we've gathered from your many well-thought posts.

~S.

Welcome! We love it here too. We moved to Cookeville one year ago this month and have never been sorry. Our neighbors aren't friendly , but otherwise we have met a lot of very nice people. Hope you will continue to enjoy your new home.

Now that you are finally there and loving it, please tell us how much the houses cost to rent/buy in your area, and what the temperatures are like in your part of TN. Looking forward to your reply.

Of the TWO neighbors that we have met....one couple is native, the other---the wife is native to Cookeville, husband isn't. The second couple have been very nice and helpful. The other brought over a loaf of bread a month after we moved in and I haven't seen her since. Oh, and there was a woman who introduced herself when we were out for a walk, but haven't seen her since. There are two people way down at the other end of the subdivision who have talked to us when we have gone for a walk...one gave us tomatoes. but the neighbors behind us and directly across the street don't even wave if they see us out. Oh well, we have met lots of other people who are fun and nice. I'm thinking of taking cookies to the neighbors we haven't met or having a party to celebrate our one-year anniversary here! Maybe then I can meet some of them! I have no idea if the other neighbors are native to Tennessee or not. One is a policeman, another is a youth pastor, I've heard.

Thankfully, this neighborhood doesn't seem representative of the rest of Cookeville. It's just disappointing. Hope you will meet lots of nice people.

Barbiego: Some are probably transplants and the others are probably transplants that are mad that you moved here. Think about it.
