My husband and I are back home from our trip to Cookeville. Cookeville is certainly an A+ town. We were very impressed. The town is much nicer than what we anticipated. We found the people very friendly and Cookeville appears to be updated and clean. Some of the neighborhoods are absolutely beautiful. The shopping looks as if it is adequate and no need to travel to a metro area. We attended church at St. Michael's Episcopal and found the people very friendly and they provided us information regarding the Cookeville area. Cookeville is now our top choice for a location to retire.

That's such good news! I'm probably one of those people bbkaren was referring to. Even though I live in Knoxville, I think Cookeville is one of the nicest towns around, and I hope to live there myself someday.

And if you need the name of a realtor, I have a good friend in Cookeville who's one of the best--I've already referred several people from this forum to her, and she was able to find them their new homes in the Cookeville area.

We moved here in October 2005. We first rented our house, but were under contract to buy it with a clause that our house sell first--we did have a contract on our house at that time but it fell through. We decided to move to TN anyway in the hope and expectation that our FL house would soon sell. Fortunately, it did. So we rented from October to December 2005, and then bought the house at the end of December.
