R.I.P. Carsten E Meyer (Marshall, Ingleside: house, wedding, tenant)

I received this notice this morning:

Judge Carsten Ernst Meyer C.L.U. of Ingleside, Texas passed at the age of 68 peacefully into the hands of our lord Savior on December 11, 2011 after an auto accident. He was preceded in death by his parents Hermann and Carla Boeck Meyer, Sister Renate Meyer and granddaughter Lundyn Nava. He was born in Sohl, Germany, Graduated High School in Philadelphia, PA., and received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and held a professional designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). Carsten has spent most of his adult life in Texas and has been a long time resident of Ingleside.

Carsten was employed by the City of Aransas Pass as a municipal Judge and Emergency Management Coordinator and by the City of Ingleside also as a Municipal Judge. He was a Lieutenant and Life Member of the Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department. His fire service also included his work with the Texas State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association as the Chaplain for the South Central District Firefighters. Carsten Meyer was minister and served the Lord through his daily example and commitment to both Our Father’s House and Kairos Prison Ministries.

He served as an aerial photographer in the United States Navy onboard the USS Randolph (CVS-15) during the Vietnam War From 1964-1968.

He will be remembered for his love of pageantry, which was evident, whether as Uncle Sam on Independence Day or a six foot three leprechaun on ST Patrick days or any other occasion he could make special with an outfit. He was the founder of the Ingleside Renaissance Faire. Carsten, AKA King Henry the Eighth, who reigned over the annual festival for 13 years started the faire to mark his wedding and subsequent anniversaries to his love Debbie Spears Meyer, AKA Queen Anne. The Ingleside Chamber of Commerce plans to continue the faire the second weekend in each December honoring His memory.

Carsten was active in his community throughout his life. Some of these activities include:
* Ingleside Lions Club, serving as president multiple times.
* Ingleside Chamber of Commerce, serving as president multiple times.
* Ingleside Rotary Club, serving as an officer.
* Coastal Plain Local Emergency Planning Committee, serving as various committee chairs.
* Coastal Bend Homeland Security Advisory Committee to name a few.

Services will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home 2003 West Wheeler Avenue Aransas Pass, TX. Arrangements are in progress, funeral is expected to be Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made toward the Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department.
