Although it seems odd, I don't know anyone who scuba dives here. I don't know where they go. The "flower gardens" Bellestar was talking about are in the Gulf but I don't know how far out. They scuba dive in the exhibits at the aquarium....

The Flower Gardens are technically the northern most reef in the world, I think. They are accessible via live aboard, mainly, and are out there several hundred miles. There is quite a bit of nitrox diving on the FGs now, since you are live aboard and got plenty of time. The reef itself is fairly deep - starts around 50-60 feet, I think. I think most of the trips out there include a stop at Stetsons Bank, as well.

Of course, those trips cost a bit of money, and the live aboards are not exactly fancy. There is quite a bit of rig diving, too, I believe, but I have never gone out diving on them in the gulf.
