Very confused by the beverage packages available on cruises. I assumed all non-alcoholic were included? They don't even include bottled water, coffee, etc? Is it better to purchase package now or wait until we board? Appreciate any input!

And what cruise line are you asking about. From my knowledge on an unnamed line all non alcoholic drinks are covered. Lets say they cost $2.50 each. Alcoholic drinks are limited to 7 or 8 a day and cost, including tip, under $8.00. If over $8.00 you are billed the total cost of the drink, not just the part over $8.00.

The package has to be purchased for all individuals in the same cabin.

No sharing of drinks so each person has to use their guest card when ordering.

Unless you drink a lot I would think the package is not worth it.

Royal Carribean. Reading the fine print, the only beverages included are reconstituted tap water, lemonade and ice tea

That's right; on RCI and NCL the beverage package (booze) does not include most non alcoholic drinks; makes no sense to me or many others, but that is the way they are doing it.

bring a French Press/your favorite coffee and get hot water at the buffet...you can either order a pot of coffee on the first day and keep the carafe to get the hot water, or it wouldn't be too difficult to get someone to just bring you the carafe.

the buffet coffee is horrible

If your Room Service is Still "Free" you can order a HotWater For tea, They bring the tea bags for you to do the tea on your own.

Included drinks on All the mainstream lines are: ice water, coffee, tea (iced or hot),lemonade or flavored water or punch, milk and juice at breakfast.

Sodas cost extra on all the mainstream lines. As does alcoholic drinks. Most lines have "packages" which include soda and/or alcohol.... if you don't drink A LOT of either, a package is a waste of money...buy as you go. Many lines will allow you to bring some soda or water and 2 bottles of wine aboard.

The mini-bar and room service are NOT included in the drink packages on ANY cruise line.....

You probably can not drink enough coffee to offset the cost of one let alone two packages.

I think you will also find free coffee in self serve dining room all day long. Also room service is probably no charge.

Again share the line and you will get better info. Might also tell us what part of the world as their might be differences.

I think your answer is no package if coffee is all you will be drinking.
