Has anybody stayed in any of the studio cabins that they're putting on some of the newer NCL and RCCL ships?

If so, what are your thoughts, and about how much did it cost?

In February I am booked on Norwegian in a studio cabin. I am not new to cruising but this will be my first studio. After I return, I'll post my opinion.

How is a "studio cabin" different from any other?

From what I saw its a very small inside cabin. (Smaller then the normal cabin).

Which is reasonable IF it's cheaper. After all, a regular inside cabin is meant to fit two adults. With those fold down upper bunks, they can fit four adults (though I'll never be one of them. ). The studio cabins are intended for one adult passenger.

Good Lord! I've cruised in an inside cabin once, they're already tiny! Why would anyone do this to themselves? Even if you see the room as a place to shower, sleep, and keep your stuff, you gotta be able to move around!

They don't expect to be sleeping there

They don't expect to do much showering there either.

LOL! True enough, based on my first cruise - the only time I cruised as a single. The relationship I established with the Italian First Officer continued for a year in several cities and countries.

DH and I book inside cabins all the time - for two of us. Stiff, inflexible senior citizen joints and all. It's NEVER been a problem in 15+ cruises.

The only time we've had something other than an inside cabin is when they gave us a free upgrade.

I agree with JK, of course they are small, but how many hours other than sleeping and getting dressed does one spend in a cabin. The idea of cruising is to enjoy all the ships activities and go ashore at ports yo are interested in seeing. We do, normally, get outside cabins; We had an inside cabin on a 12 day cruise a few years ago and did just fine.

Now, OP, the studio cabins do get some very positive reviews: not for everyone, but as I understand it, there is a open sitting area for socializing; sort of like a small lobby. At least on NCL that is the case.
