A parking lot?! With another stadium only hosting four games?

Could you imagine Jerry's World in Dallas being constructed just to host four football games, then turned into parking lot. Irate! Brazilians should be furious.

I'd like to know the current status of all the venues in Sochi, even Beijing. What a waste it is to host these world-wide events. Except for certain nations, US already has the stadiums suitable for World Cup, as well as many others.

The Olympics should go on a cycle. If a host nation spends that much to host them, than it should cycle back to that host city. Four or five host cities for the Winter games, cycled, and four or five different cities and nations for the Summer games, cycled.

This is Obama's fault, too, right guys? Psssst. Show some leadership, goddamn it, Obama!

And Brazil has to brace itself some more. Much more. 2016 Olympic games in Rio.

I cringe for Boston.

But we have to be PC and give these events to countries that aren't ready for them, and those countries have to spend outrageously to put a veneer of first world status on their facilities and infrastructure since the world is watching.

Anyways I don't care about soccer so that is about the Olympics.

We? When did you become an official with FIFA? Outside of the fact that Brazil is a powerhouse in international soccer and more than deserves to host a World Cup, Brazil is no different than any country, state of city that allows some professional sports league to promise great riches if they would just host one of their premier events (of course not without extorting their own payola). Political correctness, naw its about the money!

Anyway, the story is about the same whether the country is developed or not.

No. Brazil first hosted the World Cup in 1950 before "political correctness" as a term was in popular use. Not to mention their world record 5 World Cup titles.

It was political correctness when the USA was chosen to host the World Cup in 1994.

Many of these venues will get added use for the 2016 Olympics I'd imagine, so they will more than have their value in my view.

I would hope we would be smarter than that if we get Olympics or World Cup but you have politicians making decisions that have no clue about Economics....so now with Gingrich gone, we got nobody that I can see, maybe Trump.
