This just doesn't make a ton of sense. Removing this cross would not really accomplish much for atheists. Even if you removed it, right then you did less harm to Christianity and more harm to the honor that was given to the victims of 9/11. This is small potatoes. If atheists' goal is to promote their 'beliefs', then this isn't the way to do it. If want to shows your support for the victims, then why not just get your own memorial. That should be the main option to go about this instead of the "Plan B". If your goal is to honor the victims, then why disrespect those who choose to honor them in their own way? Why not honor them in your way and keep it moving?

I'm not religious at all. That cross I see as a sign of hope and survival and perseverance on 9-11 more than a religious symbol. America needed on that day, it should be memorialized.
The cross is stupid. Its inclusion in the memorial was a patently inane placating of the majority religion and its vacuous superstition. However, Christians, collectively, acting as a mob, are a bullying, often priggish, majority, and it is simply not worth the strife that opposing the inclusion of the cross in this memorial would generate.
