Good thing I never use my phone to make calls so it's never close to my head!!!! (does anyone use their phone to make calls anymore?! )
That reminds me of another joke where a woman talking on her cell phone during a dinner date freaked out when her companion told her cell phones being held up to your head can cause brain cancer. She put the phone down, in her lap, and her companion followed up with "isn't that where you keep your ovaries?".
Especially if there are trillions of dollars to be made and millions of people involved in the enterprise.
Dishonest science versus science that's properly done. All you got to do is look through the studies and figure out which is which. Not hard to do. In general: stuff as reported in popular media can, and often is, way off base. Stuff as reported in scientific journals usually presents the raw data correctly, but interpretations and conclusions can range from reasonable to completely off base, so it's advisable not to believe anyone's interpretations but to look at the raw data yourself. Usually *basic* statistics that you can make from the raw day are all you need to form accurate interpretations.
The funniest thing is I read this in the Wall Street Journal last month(Cell Tower emissions, per recent studies of the same.) Was actually aimed more towards worker's concerns, though by implication you can say NIMBY issues as well
Perhaps even they were being a little alarmist..who knows?
The main issue is, everyday life is dangerous enough as it is......and surely the most dangerous thing we do every day
is get in a car and drive. Think of it.....you are driving 20-45 miles an hour on most residential main roads within a few feet of a car going the opposite direction, if you are driving in the left lane. One lapse of attention and that would be the equiv of hitting a brick wall at 40-90 miles an hour. And we do it every day, preoccupied with kids in the car, our hair/makeup in the mirror, changing the radio station, talking on our bluetooths, etc....not to mention drunks, incompetent drivers, and teen/seniors who either have not learned to drive right yet, or are unable to anymore.
How about the major stressors of life itself that cause high blood pressure and heart attacks? Or our diets? The fact that the majority of us are overweight, and a third obese? That many, if not most, have little money to retire on, and/or little money in the bank at any age? That incomes, on average, have flattened for many years, not even keeping up with inflation and major expenses? Privacy issues per our allowing ourselves to be tracked by Cell Phones and comments on Facebook, et. al, not to mention our personal info/online money at worst hacked, and at best sold from every purchase made online or at retail stores via reward cards/debit cards?
Of course, those worries are right in our face........those are never going to be laughed at, or outed on Scopes.com
I still think it is an open question what damage our man-made environment causes.....simply, there is a price to pay..Look at China and the pollution. We pay the same price for progress, in diff ways. No free lunch. And that won't be "outed" on Scopes.com anytime soon either..

First, no kids, no hair/makeup, no changing radio stations, no bluetoooth (whazzat?) here, but yah I could be taken out by drunks, incompetents, or teens / seniors. But I'm not overweight, have enviable vitals at age 40, plan to retire at age 50 (and devote my final 20 years after retiring to a) anti-militarization of police, b) anti-civil-forfeiture, and c) anti-drug-war)...
Second, this thread has made me think. I am not so dismissive and chiding as many of the posters here. There is a price to pay.
"When it comes to a worry like a possible EMF-cancer connection, Professor Moulder said, “once something like this becomes part of our collective memory, there is no way to remove it from that memory.â€
Anyone realize that the signals and the magnetic radiation....
Looks like Amateur Hour, only worse.

All of your posts are this....
Misrepresentation If the misrepresentation occurs on purpose, then it is an example of lying. If the misrepresentation occurs during a debate in which there is misrepresentation of the opponent’s claim, then it would be the cause of a straw man fallacy.
I do not believe that you are lying, rather it is readily apparent that you are scientifically illiterate.
What is the shape of a microwave beam?
If that question is way too difficult for you to answer, then tell us why radars rotate.
Folks, this is a stellar example of what Liberals have done to the public education system.
This is exactly why --- from the day the federal government gets its tentacles out of the education business --- it will take 20-25 years to educate the people who can then spend 20+ years educating the people who will lead you into the 5th Level Economy, you know, R&D, so you can have decent paying jobs.
I could be wrong...perhaps all of you have a secret desire to returning to farming.
Realizing...
Finally, truly feel sorry for the poor workers that have to work on these towers.....they almost certainly will die of cancer,
as they have no lead-based protection, and are right on the things.....
This is not to mention roofers in commercial buildings, who often work right next to fully functioning ones.

...it turned me into a newt!
