The US government is $847,215.57 richer thanks to an extraordinary gift from an immigrant couple. Peter Petrasek escaped Czechoslovakia during World War II and met and married his wife Joan, an Irish immigrant, in Canada. The pair made Seattle their home in the late 1950s. Joan died in 1998 at 79, and when Peter passed away in 2012 at 85, their identical wills made clear that they had left their entire fortune to "the government of the United States of America."
If I had absolutely no one I wanted to leave an inheritance to, I would donate to a VERY worthwhile charity or political cause -- and I would specify exactly how I would want it to be used.
In no case would I donate it to the government, as it is obvious that all they know how to do with money is to waste it (or at least the great majority of it).

It appears, as I suspected, that this couple greatly appreciated the opportunity the United States offered them for a fresh start. Immigrants who have lived under oppressive conditions from their own governments understand the freedoms in America (at least a half century ago) better than our own citizens. The times, they are a changing.
This gift is sweet and beautiful, coming from the heart of this couple who was so grateful to their new country. It is sad that the money will be squandered by corruption and waste.
They should have donated it to the Clinton Foundation, that way $840.000.00 would have gone toward Bill and Hilary flying around in private jets and staying in 5 star hotels,eating in posh restaurants and $7215.57 would have gone toward helping poor people.

Charities are the new legal way to steal money from people and funnel it to the rich. In the past the practice of the rich was to obtain money in a way where people had no knowledge of it. Now they can openly claim to do good and have people thank them for stealing their money through charities. What a scam!
It’s refreshing to see that immigrants that have assimilated and love AMERICA. I hope the money they left is earmarked to deport those who hate America and have insane demands like Halal meat on the public dole.
What a foolish and wasteful move. You don't give money to GOVERNMENTS, for chrissakes....give the money to PEOPLE, individuals, who need it, and can use it to improve their lives.
These people were fools - indoctrinated or uneducated/ignorant fools.
