Minnesota lawmakers are worried about cell phone cases designed to look like handguns.
State Reps. Joe Atkins and Dan Schoen announced legislation Friday that would ban the manufacture, sale and possession of the gun-shaped cases. Minnesota's Legislature won't reconvene until March.

In a world where people have been shot for pulling a submarine sandwich wrapped in aluminum foil because someone thought it was a weapon, even if the phone case was to remain legal, you would have to be a complete moron to own it.
I dont have a problem with the ban, but I dont speak for the people of Minnesota either.
It should be legal for anyone that want's to risk being shot and killed every time they call grandma.
If you use one, you should have to sign a waiver that states you will not hold any LEO or other law abiding citizen responsible for putting a bullet in your head should you elect to use this device in a public place.
I really don't care if they make it illegal or not. You would have to be stupid to carry one around. Like cops need another excuse to drop you.
On second thought. Make them illegal. (Not that its done anything to stop drugs)
This would be a real boon for cops. All they would need to do is carry around one of these cases and drop it when they plug some poor unsuspecting sob. He had a gun case! Good Shoot!
Please make them illegal so we can avoid all the threads about how dangerous cops jobs are, how brave they are, how they serve and protect, and how anyone would be scared for their life if they saw a 10 year old kid holding a gun case next to their ear.
I don't have a problem with a ban. It's probably a good idea. A law like that could protect idiots that buy it , as well as protecting other people from people just pretending to have one to intimidate somebody into giving them money or something.
The Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, but does not give us the right to bear something that looks like a weapon. The purpose of the amendment is to give people the right to defend themselves, and the right to rise up against their government if they feel they need to. A pretend gun would not serve either purpose.
Is there any good reason why people would need the right to have this?

Gawd bless these people who "don't have a problem with" more and more government encroachment because they've proclaimed people who own something they find offensive to be "morons."
And the picture of those two Reps. standing there as if they've proposed something meaningful was a joke--what a claim to fame.
Ban, ban, ban. Coming again from the left. Because that's where it always comes from.
Anything that looks like a real gun should be treated as a real gun, if you are going to be waving a fake gun around that looks real be prepared for the consequences.
This legislation is meant to address kids, I am sure. Do we think they should be shot by a mistaken police officer because the kids didn't think through their actions? Kids do dumb things. Many legislations are passed to protect kids from themselves. Why is this even controversial?
