A Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo in his yard and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face, the county sheriff said Friday.

Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, Texas, at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire.

"His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo," Rowe said.

The animal's hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man's jaw,
I really don't want to see anyone get hurt but this is a somewhat amusing story.

LOL... Because that armadillo is such a huge threat (especially at 3AM) that it needs to be shot.

Armadillos are a threat. They carry leprosy, and tear up your garden or landscaping. I would never shoot one, but it's not uncommon for people out in the country to do that.

Some people think guns are the solution to every problem. Shooting at something with a coat of armor, well, apparently just not the right decision.

He shot it out of respect. He respected that animal so deeply he had to shoot it.

/sarcasm.. another story features a hunter who shot a giraffe and she claims she has a connection with and respects the animals. Then shoots them dead.
