Another case of someone who apparently thinks that his wants takes precedence over anyone else's.

Absolutely disgusting and outrageous.

(However, I do think that 11 years imprisonment is too long for the offense, which resulted in "just" a cut above the eye. I think that 11 weeks would be sufficient to get the point across that what he did was wrong and will not be tolerated.)

Can you blame them, the victim is their contemporaries.

I agree. it's unreal what people can assault one another over. The slightest conflict, Or even perceived one. And a beating an elderly man no less?

He can see plenty of action in prison, Though it's doubtful he would be dishing out the beatdowns. Even the worst criminals often have no respect for those who harm children or the elderly.

He faces 11 years in prison if convicted of the assault. (There were witnesses.) Maybe an 11 year sentence would stop others in the future from assaulting people over such trivial things---think so?

No sense wasting money jailing this guy. There's plenty of sharks not too far from there that he could be fed to.

Lock him up and throw away the keys for eleven years. Even if the older man said something stupid, why assault? Say something to him instead, it's much better. And yes you can't keep taking all the samples.

This guy is a coward and should be punished, thinking he is so tough punching a elderly guy.

A steep price for a burst of anger. "Legitimate" Killing of a 95 yo vet sets a benchmark for the rest of citizens to be judged against. 11 years in prison, sharks? Are you serious? 78 yo vs 24 yo is not quite the same as a swat team against 95 yo. 24 yo had legitimate concerns for his safety, he should have contacted Chicago lawyers before opening his mouth.
