King Cobra Escapes Its Handler in Florida

Officials say Kennedy is an experienced snake keeper and exotic animal dealer who has the proper permit to keep the snake, and is licensed and bonded to care for exotic animals. He may face charges for failing to report the snake missing immediately as the local media

If I kept a snake it would be a harmless snake. Why keep a Cobra?

Right down the road from my home.
Yay. First, python epidemic, now this.
How many more deadly predators can we fit in this state? LOL.
I say we release lions next, and drop some hippos off in our many lakes.

That would scare me...the pythons are an invasive species. I think it's bad enough having gators because you are on the food chain with them!!!

If someone could get a pet hippo and abandon it, they would, but hippos are pretty dangerous, more dangerous than a lion.

I doubt anyone would want a hippopotamus; it would mean needing a pond or a lake in a back yard or something, and then the hippo might kill someone.

A herd of hippopotamuses once owned by the late Colombian drug baron Pablo Escobar has been taking over the countryside near his former ranch - and no-one quite knows what to do with them.

Nobody knows how many there are. The local environmental authority, which bears responsibility for them, estimates between 50 and 60, with most living in the lake at the park. But 12 are known to have paddled past the flimsy fence and into the nearby Magdalena River - and maybe many more.

Those things are extremely powerful AND have some of the worst temperaments in the animal kingdom. There are plenty of videos of them angrily chasing after boats.
