McDonald’s all-day breakfast has been a disaster | New York Post

Too many Mcdonalds unprepared to handle the increase menu.

Well, now that the New York Post has declared it we can all move along, nothing to see here.

I read the same thing in Business Insider.

Besides the chaos in the kitchen, franchise owners are stating that it's hitting their profit margins as well. This being due to the fact that breakfast items are cheaper than the traditional mid day offerings.

I think a happy medium might have been in order here. Previously they switched it over at 10:30am, but few people want a hamburger at 10:31. That was just too early. Instead of making breakfast all day they could have just extended breakfast time until 11:30 or so, or had a crossover time with limited breakfast and lunch items available, with a full switchover in time for the lunch rush.

That being said they can probably figure out how to manage the dual menu more efficiently given some time and experience. And I don't buy the bit about profit margins. Breakfast may be sold at a lower price but it is probably produced at a lower price as well. Also their lunch menu has been getting more expensive over the years and from what I gather much of their lunchtime sales come from value dollar menu items anyway.

Sorry, but I don't want my eggs cooked on the same griddle next to a greasy burger.

This happens at diners everywhere, every day.

Yeah blame the messenger because McDonalds and its franchisees have largely FUBAR'd this whole thing thus far.
