It's too bad that the media is so hard up that they can't hold a "story" before getting all the facts and then some are so gullible to believe what it written. People use to be able to trust the media - now they are lower than lawyers and used car salesmen.
I think it's worth copy and pasting: He explains why he was standing (to help) in the first paragraph. I too think this is about money and attention on the family's part. The man certainly sounds kind to me, I think people are nuts who think the guy should get fired.
"This child was brought to me stapped in a wheelchair and on a ventilator. I assumed they would bring the child in the chair to the set so I went to assist. They unhooked the child from the vent and placed him in my arms with a plastic tube in his throat. I was stunned but as carefully as I could I walked over in front of the camera. The child could not respond to the bells and sqeekers used to direct their attention for a photograph and I was given no instructions on how to handle this child. With him cradled in my arms to support his head I manipulated him for the best picture by positioning my body at an awkward angle toward the camera, got the picture and returned him to his family and caretakers as quickly as possible. They approved of the picture initially-retakes are sometimes requested, but not in this case. Then this family contacted a television station and said I refused to sit with this child on my lap to take a picture! No one requested anything and I delivered the best picture I,could of this child for Christmas!"
Yes but whats wrong with letting someone sit on your lap and be kind to them??
Quite sad..... THAT GUY SHOULD BE FIRED AND SOMEONE WHO IS MORE KIND BROUGHT IN!!
What's wrong with standing there and being nice to them? Look, we weren't there, we don't know all the circumstances. Gees, maybe the last kid just peed on Santa's lap, maybe he didn't want the baby sitting in it. Who the heck knows. Fired? You have got to be kidding me. Look, the world doesn't stop when you have a special needs child, just be grateful for those who try and help. It's a nice picture, I'm sure Santa's intentions were good.
What a lovely picture, I like it better than the sitting ones. I'm going to sue because all of my sons Santa pictures are sitting! Do you think they'll at least take some re-do's of my 39 & 42 year olds?
If I had been him, I'd have thought that the baby couldn't breathe the whole time I had him, and would have wanted to do it as fast and safe as I could. Shame on these parents.
Sounds to me like Santa was trying to be sensitive, after all Mom had just unhooked this little one from medical equipment, one has to assume this equipment is life saving or wouldn't be necessary so Santa was trying to give baby back quickly..being considerate.... It is a sweet pic...I see no reason the parents should be making this horrible fuss.
I think they are being hypersensitive. Mom took off baby's medical apparatus for a free pic? I find that very concerning...
Have grandpa dress up like Santa you can make memories without targeting a Santa who likely works or volunteers for free pics. Not everyone is prepared for these medically sensitive situations...
