expectorate - to spit, cough up mucus etc.
defecate - void excrement from the bowels

As a nurse ... I thought everyone knew these basic body functions. Maybe not.

I might also say I have been to Paris a few times. The streets always smell like urine. I saw a well dressed woman with a 3-4 year old girl in hand. The little girl had to urinate so the woman took her to the curb, had her squat and pee right there on a main street. Apparently the French don't think much about it.
