I want a natural burial, but there's a problem with this. When the tree is eventually cut down, there will still be human remains in the tree stump. I suppose the whole thing can be ground up an cremated, but the person should have this planned out beforehand.
the remains would be in the roots. if the tree dies and needs to be taken down, the stump can be left to decay.
It's certainly not a requirement in VA to embalm a person if they are not buried or cremated within 24 hours. When my husband died, we were totally unprepared and lacked a burial plot. However, according to our faith we are not embalmed. So it was a couple of days before we could get the rabbi scheduled and get a coffin and burial site arranged. The funeral home simply kept him in stasis, and we had a closed coffin anyway, as we don't "do" viewings. On the subject of the OP, I'd love to buried under a tree on my lakeside lot, but I think the HOA would probably object.
There's an apple tree next to the grave site of Gen. Edward Braddock along Rt. 40 near Farmington, Pennsylvania. When we'd pass by it on our way to our grandparents' house, my brother and I would joke that Gen. Braddock was still fertilizing those apples.
Shot out into space in a biodegradable covering would be better. The biodegradable covering disintegrates and one's body just decays wherever it lands. This won't happen for a long, long time though. Trees sprouting from people pods don't sound so great - if it grew apples, would people be able to eat them?

Do what? You are worried about a biodegradable covering after just burning enough hydrocarbons to power a small country for a year to put your corpse in space?
I was thinking about this myself but never looked into it. I know I want my ashes spread over our home but I would like some spread over my favorite hiking trail as well.
